James K. White has specialized in municipal finance since his graduation from Northwestern University Law School in 1976. He has served as bond counsel for numerous Michigan townships, villages, cities, counties and public authorities. Born in Jackson, Michigan, and raised in Grand Rapids, he is a magna cum laude graduate of Albion College. Jim has assisted clients with all aspects of financing public capital improvement and infrastructure projects including public buildings, roads, sanitary sewer, public water and drainage systems. These projects have included municipal bond and note issues, elections, special assessment proceedings, property tax issues, multi-municipality contracts, tax increment financing, federal and state grant programs, statutory and administrative proceedings, letters of credit, municipal bond insurance and similar credit enhancements, ordinances, municipal franchises, privatization, site and easement acquisition, legislative drafting and lobbying and securities law disclosure. He is a frequent speaker on public finance topics. In addition to his professional bar association affiliations, Jim is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and is the former chairperson of the firm's Local Government Practice Group.
